Camp Begins Monday, June 14, 2010
Welcome to the Colerain Township Summer Youth Park Program! The program is FREE, so if you have children ages 5 who have finished kindergarten through 13 years of age, this is an excellent opportunity for them to make new friends while enjoying the summer playing games and making crafts. The program is directed by Krista Thiel who is assisted by a dedicated staff of teachers and college students.
The Summer Youth Program, which is for residents only, begins in mid- June and continues through the start of school in August at Colerain Park (4725 Springdale Road). There are two program sessions, Monday through Friday. The morning
recreational game session runs from 9:00-11:00 a.m. The afternoon craft session is held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Children are welcome to attend both sessions, but they must be picked up in between the two sessions. Attendance is not mandatory; you are free to bring your child(ren) when it is convenient to you. Cancellations will occasionally occur due to weather conditions (rain, excessive heat, etc.). All cancellations will be posted on a hotline number - (513)385-1956.
In addition to the regular daily game and craft sessions, the children have additional opportunities to enjoy the summer through the Park's program. The Park program holds movies in the park on the second and fourth Friday nights of June, July and August (these free movies are also open to the general public). The group usually goes on one field trip a week and typically one large over-night trip each summer. Although the program is free, there are costs involved for the field trips. Each child must have a Colerain Parks t-shirt to wear while on the field trips for identification purposes ($6.00) and there are minimal fees involved with the trips to cover such things as entrance fees. Below are examples of trips the Summer Program has traditionally taken:
Skatin' Place
Laser Tag
Colerain Bowl
Cincinnati Zoo
Sunrock Farm
COSI - Ohio's Center for Science and Industry
Canoeing
Cincinnati Red's Game
The Beach Waterpark
Indianapolis Children's Museum
Pump it Up
