Senior Life Journeys*
A new collaborative project has begun between the Colerain Township Senior & Community Center and Cincinnati Senior Services Over the Rhine location. Members of the two Centers will participate in monthly visits to each group's center challenging the members with very different backgrounds, race and income levels to appreciate the differences and similarities between them. The 12 trips per year, per center (2x per month) will place members in an environment that will foster communication and allow them to explore the food, traditions and family customs of each group. Each month will highlight a topic and similarities/differences will be explored through dance, film, literary arts, music, fashion, religious expression, theater, visual arts storytelling, cultural food sharing, current issues and photography. The program experiences will be enhanced through involvement with the Cincinnati Art Museum, a storyteller, journalizing, scrapbooking and visits to area cultural centers.
Over the course of the program, we have sincere faith that misconceptions will be decreased and acceptance and appreciation of cultural diversity will flourish as cultural barriers are overcome and trust is built. For more information on this program, please contact Mrs. Kay Klosterman at (513)741-8802 or at kklosterman@coleraintwp.org .
Trips
To participate in any trip that the Center is sponsoring, individuals are required to pay the yearly fees of the Colerain Township Senior & Community Center. Several local travel agencies provide the best quality trip for your money. Itinerary for such trips will be discussed monthly in The Center News and will also be available in flyer form at the Center. Checks for trips will be written directly to the travel agency. Your trip reservations will be dated with the date you make the reservation. If payment (or deposit when applicable) has not been made within 2 weeks of the reservation, your name will automatically be removed from the list and the reservation given to another traveler. This allows everyone a fair chance to plan their travel with us.
