The Colerain Township Senior & Community Center offers a variety of programming (educational, recreational, etc.) through a broad range of services and activities within the Center.
Center program hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Participants Council (PC)
Joining the Senior & Community Center will entitle you to have priority access to all Center activities and the right to participate in the Participants' Council. The Council meets on the third Wednesday of each month (except November & December). The program fees for joining the Participants' Council are $5.00 for residents of Colerain Township and $10.00 for non-residents, due yearly in January.

A wide variety of daytime programming provides education, fitness, nutrition, and special interests activities. Please see the descriptions of classes below .

The Center has a game room equipped with 2 pool tables, card tables and a library. The game room frequently hosts pool tournaments you can enjoy! You may also like to work on a puzzle or sit and talk in our cozy lounge area.
Occasionally the Center will hold special events, in conjunction with members of the community, such as the Annual Northwest Key Club/Kiwanis dinners, Annual Holiday Evening Concert, family evening movies, and much, much more!
Classes
Art Class: Participants use a variety of mediums: oil, water, acrylic, pen and ink and pastels. Learn techniques and brush strokes. Class is informal. Bring in your own supplies or the instructor will advise you on what to purchase. Beginners welcome.
Arts & Crafts: Seasonal and new projects each month. Participants work on individual pieces at their own pace.
Ceramics: A variety of poured greenware molds are used to create unique ceramic items in this class using different and unusual finishing techniques.

Thursdays, 10:00a.m. and 1:00p.m.
Porcelain: Students work with pre-purchased porcelain. Fired/cleaned porcelain is used. Learn different techniques of painting projects; China paint, chalk, etc.
Sewing: Various projects include machine piece quilts, clothing patterns, altering clothing, and arts & crafts. Sewing machines available
to use.
Stained Glass: Beginners work on a stepping stone project and then do advanced projects. Instructor assists students working on a variety of stained glass art such as sun catchers, lamps, jewelry boxes, etc.

Tuesdays, 9:30a.m. - Noon.

Watercolor: Beginners receive a printed list of materials they need to purchase. Class participants work on independent projects. Assistance is given by two peer instructors.
500 Cards: Game of cards played in groups of four or five. After a round is played, the players then move three places.

Players meet on Mondays, 10:00a.m. - 1:30p.m.

Bring a lunch or order lunch from the Center by noon the day before.

Ballroom Dancing: Class involves most types of partner dancing, such as the fox trot, waltz, rumba, tango and swing. The instructor concentrates on one dance type a month, starting with the basics and advancing.
Line Dancing: Join instructor Chris Hankerson for modern line dancing to hip-hop style music. The class meets weekly. Everyone is welcome.

Bowling at Colerain: Interested bowlers should meet at Colerain Bowl. Discounted price for Seniors: bowl three games for $5.00. This includes free shoe rental and coffee. Open bowling, no leagues. Beginners and advanced bowlers welcome.
Chair Yoga: Participants follow a 40 minute videotape led by Pat Hulbert. Routines for breathing, relaxation, coordinated stretching and yoga movements, while seated in a chair. No prior yoga experience required.

Fridays, 10:00a.m.
Euchre: Game of cards played in groups of three or four. Players then rotate after rounds.

Resistance to Muscle Loss: Strength training program that works in conjunction with the Hamilton County Health District. Participants are tested before the first class to determine their pre-program strength. After they complete the 10 week program, participants are post-tested on their strength level, and most have actually increased their muscle mass! Jazz Lite: Low impact aerobics class taught by an outside instructor. Some floor routines, chairs may be used.

Charge per class or register for weeks at a time. Fees are paid to the instructor.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9:00a.m. - 10:00a.m.
Walk Aerobics: Low impact video tape, The Silver Foxes.
Basic walking in place exercises. Video led by Richard Simmons.
Chair volleyball: Participants volly a beach ball across a lowered net, while seated.
Can be played by all abilities and activity levels. Official team name is the Cardinal Aces. Periodic games played May thru October.
Volunteer Meetings: Volunteers meet monthly to recap future and past projects, and to sign up for volunteer positions during events. Everyone is welcome to participate in our volunteer program.
Matinee Movie: Variety of movies shown once a month from great classics to the most recently premiered.

Children's Hospital Cut-outs: Volunteers cut out shapes from construction paper. The cut outs are then given to the Children's Hospital activity center for critically ill children to create various crafts and projects.
STAY: The Service To Area Youth (STAY) organization provides a network of services to assist the proper development and support of prenatal, newborn and growing children in the Miami, Harrison, and Colerain Township areas as well as Three Rivers Local School District. The Colerain Township Senior & Community
Center is participating in this cause asking volunteers to make simple child development toys. These toys are designed to address a specific part of a child's development from birth to 36 months. Made from items found around the house, most of these toys are very simple in design, requiring more time than expertise to assemble. We are asking you to bring the items below to the center. Containers for the items will be located at both entrances. We need: spools, pill containers, blocks, magazines, catalogs, adult size socks, paint stirrers, cups & cans with plastic lids, sequins, little beads, 20 oz. plastic sport bottles, poker chips, marbles, small glass or plastic jars with screw on lids, empty cereal boxes, two liter soda bottles, sturdy shoe boxes, empty small or large facial tissue boxes, coffee cans. Parkinson's Support Group: Support group is led by a qualified leader, for caregivers and their loved ones who suffer from Parkinson's disease.
