Attention Residents!

Please specify that you live in Colerain Township when renewing your license plates!  Colerain's taxing district number is 3166.  If you list Cincinnati under residency, the tax money collected will go to Cincinnati not Colerain Township!  This money is used to repair and maintain our roads here in the Township.

  New Facility

The Public Works Department has a new building located at 4160 Springdale Road behind the Government Complex.  The building allows the Department to progress with the demands of the growing community. The field in front of the building was be re-graded and leveled out to accommodate an additional soccer field, for a total of two fields.    


   What we do:

                                   

Colerain Township Public Works Department maintains 461 roads totaling 105.82 miles.

 

Staffed with 14 full-time employees and 9 part-time/seasonal and co-op student employees (the number will vary by season and availability)

Provide engineering services

Apply for outside funding

 

Process right-of-way permits

Annual highway report

Subdivision review, bonds and inspection

Oversee safety, OHSHA requirements, and training

Use Micro-Paver (a Computerized Pavement Management Program)

Notify affected residents prior to the beginning of major Township road work

Assemble specifications, award contracts, and oversee the preparation of projects

Provide snow and ice removal on Township streets and the dedicated, yet unaccepted, streets per Board of Trustee direction

Install sidewalk ramps in accordance to ADA

Sweep Township streets as needed

Cut down and remove trees from within the right-of-way at the request of the property owner or as needed

Check, clean and trim back trees and overgrowth on all streets and at dead end streets

Field inspect all bridges on Township maintained streets

Assist citizens with complaints such as:

  • Poor sidewalk conditions
  • Basketball backboards within the right-of-way
  • Road obstruction removal
  • Pothole repair
  • Directing to the proper agency that can assist them with their problem or question

      

Storm Sewers

  • Maintain Township storm sewer systems
  • Check all Township maintained inlets and clean at least once a year, additional times as warranted
  • List and schedule repairs as needed
  • Maintain the storm sewer inventory
  • Film storm sewer interiors and make evaluations, list potential problems and make needed repairs
  • Film storm sewer interiors on new streets where a question or problem exists

      

Street Signs

  • Maintain over 7300 street signs with continual  maintenance checks
  • Maintain the computerized inventory
  • Design the layout for sign erection on streets per the Ohio Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devises
  • Maintain revisions for the Ohio Manual of Traffic Control Uniform Devises Manual
  • Recycle street signs such as:  Stop signs, No Parking, fire signs, speed signs, No Outlet, and 4-Way signs by  replacing the sign face on old signs

     

Pavement Markings

  • Maintain the pavement-marking program utilizing thermoplastic for 13 cross walks, 6 school zones, 6 centerlines and 12 double centerlines on 25 streets

  • Cincinnati Water Works projects
  • Fiberoptics (Cable) projects
  • Cincinnati Bell Telephone Projects
  • Cincinnati Electric Co.
  • Cincinnati Gas Co.
